I had some recorded classes I wanted to trim into sections and tried iMove which created a 100gb+ project file so I then tried with DaVinci Resolve which did the trick but I forgot to check the storage after. I have the hypothesis that it could be related to some video editing I did with iMovie and/or DaVinci Resolve. I've read online these could be pdfs, text documents, and such but I've only had this laptop for 3 months, I certainly haven't downloaded 81gb of pdfs. The other day I checked how my storage was looking and found I have 80gb of 'other' files.Ĭoming from linux, I've tried to use du to figure out what was consuming so much storage but most directories show 'permission denied' even with sudo.
Keep in mind this is also my first Mac ever, so I'm not exactly used to all the quirks they have. I recently got an m1 MacBook Air (8gb, 256ssd) that I've been using almost exclusively for productivity.
